5th-Dec-2007 11:03 am - Hostess Needed TONIGHT
TONIGHT (Wednesday, Dec. 5) at The Middle East Club (downstairs) from 7:30 p.m. until about midnight.

The Boston Babydolls are performing at and hosting a private party put on by a large liquor company. We need one more hostess with a 'vintage' look to help out with the evening (you'll be handing out boas, beads, party favors, and literature).

* You should be a woman between 18-30 years old
* Have a retro, rockabilly, pin-up, flapper, glamour, 20s, 30s, or 40s look and dress (we're not providing costumes)
* Professional, outgoing, and friendly
* And be able to commit to being at the event tonight.

Interested? Send your picture and cell phone number to scratch @ bostonbabydolls . net </a> ASAP. I hope to be picking people by 1 p.m.

9th-Aug-2007 10:48 am - Sweeter 16!
Olivia Iafrate is a 16 year-old Waltham resident who is using her Sweet 16 celebration to make a real difference in the lives of others. Sick and tired of the over-the-top selfish antics displayed on MTV’s popular My Super Sweet 16 series, Olivia is refusing cash gifts, and even asking friends, relatives, and local companies to donate to charity partner Cradles to Crayons on her behalf. In just 3 weeks, she has already raised over $1000 and has just organized a volunteer event for her friends and supporters to give of their time, this Tuesday, August 14th from 12:30 – 3:00 PM at the Quincy, MA headquarters of Cradles to Crayons.

More about Sweeter 16!Collapse )

Olivia has set up a website, sweeter16.com, to raise awareness and money for Cradles to Crayons through this unique event. Potential donors should contact Olivia through the website.

I know this isn’t the normal conversation but I thought this was something really cool and should tell you guys!

Spread the word… Hearts and Hands International, a non-profit charity, is having a Blog-athon. Today only – until 9pm (MT).

Please help out by visiting www.heartsandhandsinternational.org/blogathon.html

You don’t need to donate, they’re just looking for traffic.

If you can…. Hearts and Heads would really appreciate it if you could post a short blog with a link back so we can help spread the word.  That would really help make this spread like “wild fire”!!  I hope you guys will blog about it too! let me know if you do that'd be cool!!

Hearts and Hands helps out at-risk children around the world… it never hurts to raise awareness.

7th-Jul-2007 06:48 pm - Help build a stage, Fri. 7/20 (day)
The Boston Babydolls latest show will be at The International Lounge on Saturday, July 21. We're going to be setting up lighting and creating a stage space during the day on Friday, July 20 (we're going to be rehearsing Friday night). No special skills are necessary, but you should be able to lift 30 pounds and go up and down stairs, and stand on a ladder without a problem.

We'll be working from around 10:30 a.m. until about 6 p.m. on Friday.

Volunteers get a T-shirt and free ticket to Saturday night's show or our show on Sunday, 7/29 at The Paradise Lounge.

If you're interested and available, drop us a line at volunteers (at) boston baby dolls (dot) net -- and thanks in advance for volunteering.
5th-Feb-2007 10:21 am - Volunteers Wanted for Burlesque Expo
The Great Boston Burlesque Festival (www.Burlesque-Expo.com) is happening February 16-19, 2007 (that's President's Day Weekend). The event takes place at The John Hancock Conference Center and Hotel which is downtown, near Copley Place, the main branch of the library, etc.

We're looking for people to help with everything from badge checking to theater tech to registration to carting and hauling -- especially on Friday, Feb. 16th during the day.

This is our first year doing this, and we've attracted performers from all over the world -- we don't want them to dance in the dark to silence ;-) If you're interested in helping, please visit www.Burlesque-Expo.com/Volunteer.html
